Kate Mulgrew

Kate Mulgrew is an American actor best known as Captain Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager, the first female captain to lead a Star Trek series as a regular, a role she returned to in Star Trek: Prodigy.

She also starred as Galina "Red" Reznikov in Orange Is the New Black, which brought her a Primetime Emmy nomination and a Critics' Choice Television Award, and played Mary Ryan in Ryan's Hope.

Born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1955, she won the Saturn Award for Best TV Actress for Voyager in 1998 and has published two memoirs, Born with Teeth and How to Forget.
